Little Nuggets

A few weeks, maybe months ago, I posted two stickies to my wall in order to remember a few nuggets of truth.

This is what was posted (taken from the UBC Daily Word):

To make us more like Christ....
God uses:

His Word
Other People
&
Difficult circumstances

God's word provides the truth we need to know.

God's people provide the support we need to grow.

Difficult circumstances provide the environment we need to show Christ-likeness.

Dezmin

For as long as I can remember my family has always thought it incredibly funny to tickle me. I'm sure it started with my dad. He's infamous for diggin' his fingers into my neck and causing me to go into a squirming fit. It's not my favorite tradition...

In the photo above is my cousin, Dezmin, in a sly attempt to tickle me. He's always been particularly drawn to me and has been incredibly sweet and affectionate, but in spite of all his sweetness this little sucker is also the little brother I'm thankful I never had. :)

Dezmin and a few members of the new generation have picked up on the tickle Marcy tradition. During one of his tickle attempts we jokingly wrestled around for a bit until I pushed him to the ground. He hit the ground a bit harder than expected, but what made us laugh was my instant reaction to the situation.

As he was sprawled on the floor looking up at me in complete surprise as I said "Look what you did! You made me push you....now apologize!!"
With total shock and amazement at what I had just said, he laughingly replied with "Whhhhaaaat?!?!? You did it!!!!"

LOL! life is so good as an Infante!

Delicious Denton Day

Low 7o's in Denton. The sun is shining and the 'winder' is blowin' just perfectly! Today is delicious! Hung around the house for a little today and decided that there was nothing that couldn't wait until later to finish. Changed, grabbed my keys and yelled for the boys, and we were headed to the dog park!

The boys (Roddey & Parker) were pretty chill today. I generally have to keep my eye on Roddey as he's infamously sneaky! He somehow learned how to open adjoining gates and escape to greener pastures, but today he was chill. He sniffed, played and mostly seemed content to bask in the sunshine. Parker was just as chill, but then again he's always been chill and rarely gets in trouble, much like his momma.

While enjoying the world I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. Parker Poo Poo and his new beagle friend simultaneously stopped playing, faced the sunshine, closed their eyes and sniffed the air for a few seconds. When the sniffing ended this sweet breeze blew by....I couldn't help but wonder what it was they smelled or how they new it was coming or what was it in the air...they made it look so tempting. I couldn't help but think of God.

I don't know why, but He was very near in that moment. Do you think animals are aware of his presence? Rocks will sing His praises if we don't, so why not animals? :)

Other things that made this day great:
My brother called and taught me about Pirate English on Facebook! This may be old news, but it's new news to me and I love reading things like
Cap'n Marcy Infante or Cap'n Sara Lowry

Me Hearties (439) (apparently friends are now called hearties. I love it!!)
Gained knowledge doin' Health Studies at Texas Woman's UniversityBeen sailin' since Octobarrr 17

When I said I liked an art project my friend Cassie created I got this in return "Yar scurvey self be aprreciat'in this."

When my status was liked I read this
PacoandTami , Nick, Khela Huntsinger an' 4 other mateys be likin' this ere' scroll.
Margene , Kara an' 2 other mateys be takin' a fancy t' this 'ere.

I'm so easily amused!

I had wheat pancakes for lunch.

My hair is messy, but it looks sorta nice. I'll take it!! haha

My sister came in and we had a good catch up conversation. I've missed these. She's been a bit stressed since school started.

While talking to her I said "I have a confession." She immediately assumed the worst and started asking a million questions. When I shared my confession she and I were both surprised to see how much my heart has changed. There was a time when a "confession" was most likely linked to sexual sin, this wasn't the case today. I hadn't realized how much He's changed my heart....

Another funny moment occurred during our conversation when I noticed her lovingly closing her eyes, shaking her head from side to side while pursing her lips together. I stopped talking and asked what she was doing. She replied "I was mentally hugging you for being such a good girl."

My super chica Uyen came over after dinner to take my sister out on a frozen yogurt date, and I'm assuming Yogurt Fusion, they're fav hangout. When she came to greet me in my bedroom she noticed my desk and laughed. I had an odd assortment scattered across my desk like a Clorox spray bottle, Windex, a plate (from my lunch panckes), a starbucks mug, a decanter, floss, and make up. :) I'd offer to take and post a picture, but that's just embarrassing!

I'm off to have breakfast for dinner with some friends in Irving tonight! See ya!

Swim Shirts

I get regular emails from swimoutlet.com and today I was stoked to see these new shirts!!! Pretty dang clever if you ask me!

Fast Catch Up

I'm about to start week 3 of steps. Week one was a breeze. The going deeper section of week 2 semi got on my nerves. I had a difficult time answering some of the questions. I know the 'right' answer, but I didn't know if I really believed the answers. Does that make sense? Anyhow, I wrestled a bit and semi gave up trying, but in the end some questions (and the lack of answers) continue to haunt me.

The Sugar Fast:
Sugar. I've done so incredibly well in this area it's kinda scary.

A few weeks ago some friends (Sara, Renatta & Mita) and I went out for a Wal-Mart run. Sara had a hankerin' for ice cream and Mita needed school supplies for her upcoming semester at TWU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yay!! i'm still so very proud of you O' sister of mine!) I'm not typically inclined to join the gaggle of girls (or even guys) for mass shopping, but they left me with no option. I went along and it wasn't that bad.

We finally made it to the ice cream section. Sara is perusing the isle looking for the perfect sweet treat, when I noticed to my favorite Mexican ice cream! I pressed my face to this glass in amazement and think "Why in the world would this primarily 'white' Wal-Mart carry those and in some many FLAVORS?!?!?!?!"

I can't remember for certain what I said, maybe I just groaned, like I said...I can't remember. When I suddenly hear Sara say "Awww....(that was a not so sympathetic awww by the way) you can check back in July."

*insert mental explicative here* I, as well as the other ladies, couldn't help but laugh..... That's how accountability works with us. Thanks, y'all!

You better believe that between now and June 30th I won't be found anywhere near the Swisher Wal-Mart! As I've matured I've learned that in order for me to beat temptation I need to be far removed from those triggers! I'll be shopping in Denton from here on out! =)

The Man Fast:
This portion of my fast has proven to be much more of a challenge.

I met an exceptional man before this fast started and for the first time in my history with men I obeyed God, put the friendship on hold, and entered this season of non-distraction with the Lord. Although, I haven't been actively engaged with this particular man, he continues to consume my thought life.... On a number of mornings after non stop nightly fantasizing session about him I've awoken and begged God for freedom from him and these endless thoughts. It has been obvious that despite the fact that we're not communicating he's still such a huge distraction! It's tiresome and I long for something else...

This verse comes to mind:
for my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me,
the fountain of living waters,
and hewed out cisterns for themselves,
broken cisterns that can hold no water.
Jeremiah 2:13

As previously posted, men continue to come out of the wood works. I haven't had any issue withstanding these tests, but there have been certain times that I find myself lonely or bored and I long for that attention. I can't wait for this part of me to change.

My current indulgence!

Lessons and Laughter

On Monday and Wednesday nights I teach a few swim lessons for a mixed group of swimmers at the natatorium. I rarely consider teaching aquatics a chore or even work for that matter because I love it so dang much. It's easy to say that I'd do this for free for the rest of life if I was able.

On Wednesday night I found myself teaching a preschool class for two sisters, Audrey & Caroline. Both girls are sweet and well behaved, but fearful as they haven't learned to trust me. We're working on going underwater and streamlining. Caroline goes first. She completes the exercise and when she comes up from the dip I hand her a pink toy whale. She's delighted and her enthusiasm excites her older sister, Audrey. Both girls do well for their first dip and both are rewarded with toys.

The next dip is upon Caroline so I extend my hand and ask for the toy whale. She hesitates and nearly refuses to relinquish her toy whale. Caroline has no idea that after this next dip I plan on rewarding her with a much larger and more elaborate toy whale.

It was then that I saw it....I nearly teared up just realizing what He was showing me. How often do we hold onto tiny toy whales without understanding that He's asking for them because we need free hands for the upcoming task, and because He has something so much bigger and better for us if only we obey and trust Him.

If only you could've seen her face when I gave her the new whale! It was precious, totally precious!!!

Pictured below are some of my favorite swimmers, Avery & Grant.
You haven't seen cute until you've had a chance to hang out with these little studs!
Their mom, Patti, a sweet friend and incredible example. I love her.
A few weeks ago I noticed that the lap lane pool was available. It's normally crawling with Denton ISD swimmers, but seeing as it was during Christmas break the swimmers were gone and it was our turn to play!
Over the last few weeks A & G have been killin' it in the smaller heated pool. I decided it was high time to introduce them to the big pool! I was so excited, until I started to get in the water. Lemme just tell you that it was uncomfortably cold! I took my first step in and thought 'wow. that's really cold'. I took another step, water now up to my thighs, and it felt like someone was suckin' the air out of lungs. I knew what I had to do. I had to just get it over with and fully submerge myself, but the thought of putting 'the girls' under was more than I could stand at the moment. I waited another few seconds. I couldn't do it! It was freezing! I looked up and noticed the guard on deck trying his hardest not to laugh at me. I gave him the stink eye, but it only made the laughter erupt, it was then I decided to just do it and get it over with! I did, it was awful, completely awful! and it took 600 meters to warm me up enough to tolerate the cooler temperature. (Lap pools are often heated in the winter, but not overly heated as the warmer temperatures coupled with a hard workout often gives long distance swimmers massive headaches. Imagine running on a treadmill in the middle of summer in a non air conditioned room, it's something like that.)

When Patti arrives with the kids and sees me in the lap lane she's equally excited! Patti's a swimmer as well and understands that having the kids in the bigger pool, swimming measured meters, will help give us a better gauge for their progress and endurance.

The kids are excited and start stripping off their clothing. I call Patti over and explain to her that the water is unreasonably cold, and that if she's game I planned on having the kids just jump right in rather than walk in through the stairs. She agrees with the plan and stands back.

Avery walks to the edge of the pool and is getting ready to sit down. I dont want her feet to touch the water as I knew that if she felt how cold it was she wouldn't want to get in. I then tell her she's going to jump in, but that she has to hold my hand. She's a bit confused because she hasn't had to hold my hand while jumping in for some time now. But, she's a sweet girl and follows directions well and holds my hand. I don't even have to tell you how this goes down. I'm actually laughing as I write this....

Poor Avery. She jumps in on my command and I promise, you have never seen a child come up out of the water with such velocity!! She immediately reaches for me with her free hand and begins to crawl up my body and over my shoulders so fast to get out of the water! All she could say was "it's cold! it's cold! I wanna get out! I wanna get out!" as she's scrambling to get on deck. Patti and I are in hysterics. I couldn't control myself! It was so awful to laugh that hard, and yet so great!

My hysteria was only heightened when Grant, who was somehow oblivious to his sister's reaction to the frigid water just moments earlier, had the same reaction when he it was his turn! I just remember his huge blue eyes and his massive gasp for air as he hit the surface reaching to me for protection. For a moment it seemed as if he searched my face to see if was crazy. Maybe just a little. Patti is still laughing, but is now wagging her finger at me and saying "You're a mean Miss Marcy! Totally Mean Miss Marcy!"

Oh man!!! I'm still laughing and I feel awful about it, but goodness gracious that was such a great laugh and will forever be such a great memory. Just know that I tell this story so much better than I write it! Well, I tell it well when I'm not laughing about, but if you can understand me between my laughing fits, it's pretty comical.

Needless to say they warmed up. We immediately grabbed two kick boards, I took one child under each arm and started to run down the lane with them as they kicked their little legs off. I certainly got my workout in that day and they were such troopers.

When we finished in the big pool and got into regular pool, Avery said "Ahhhhh...this feels like a bathtub." Grant said "Miss Marcy, I don't wanna go in the other pool ever again, ok?" I just smiled and didn't make any promises.

I. Love. My. Job!!

Snowy Sunday

North Texas looks beautiful today. A few inches of snow covers the trees, cars and ground. Pretty. Pretty! If you get a chance to drive past TWU's Lowry woods, do it! It's gorgeous and completely intact. I'm guessing that wouldn't be the case if the students were back in town.

I needed to run a quick errand so I yelled for my pooch (who snuck past me and headed out for some fresh air when I opened the door) and carefully made my way to my truck. As I got situated myself inside, turned on the ignition and started to reach for my seat belt I noticed that my windshield was completely covered in snow. I tried using my wipers, but the fresh snow was a bit too heavy and the wipers wouldn't budge. Remembering that my ice scrapper is usually stored under my driver's seat, I reached for it, but couldn't find it. Looking over my right shoulder I saw my blue flippers and had a ingenius idea!!!

Lemme just say that my flippers did the trick and because they're longer than my ice scrapper my boobies were spared! I usually have to lean quite a bit when reaching for the middle portion of the windshield, which usually leaves my girls pressed directly into the cold snow or ice packed on the side and hood of my truck. Frozen bubbies are no bueno and they seem to take so, so much longer to warm up that say my feet or hands! LOL go figure!!

Anyhow, when I got home I decided it was time for some hot chocolate. Found this recipe online and it's delish! Naturally, I tweaked it to my tastes by adding cinnamon and using 1% milk instead of whole. I also used light dutch cocoa that I purchased at Sprouts not long ago. Good stuff and incredibly economical. I'd suggest using less salt and maybe less sugar. If you like rich hot chocolate this will hit the spot!

Ingredients

Makes 5 3/4 cups dry mix or 92 eight-ounce servings

  • 3 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon table salt
  • Whole milk for serving

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt, and whisk to combine well. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
  2. For individual servings, pour 1 cup whole milk into a microwave-safe mug, and microwave on high just until hot. Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa mix, and stir to dissolve. For a larger batch of cocoa, warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil; as it warms, stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.

Barlow Girl - Thoughts of You

I've been crying and meditating over this song all day. (thank you, pandora) I haven't literally been crying all day, but for the most part it's been a pensive day. A flood of thoughts and memories have continually washed over me and it has almost felt overwhelming.

In the last few weeks there has been an echoing theme in all that I hear and read and it's been about recognizing and enjoying the moments that make up this journey. It seems to have presented itself t me in the strangest places from an acquaintance's "laws of fighting" (click here), a devo from Girlfriends in God (click here), UBD daily word emails, songs on the radio, in my quiet time, movies, and fictional reading. Although, I've understood the concept for many years, it's just now sinking into the secret places of my heart. While listening to this song I was finally able to sit back and sincerely thank Him for this momentary lack of peace/discomfort and a bit of uncertainty.

I hope you enjoy this song. It's simple, sweet and worship provoking.

Call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15

It may not be according to our time line, but He will deliver us.
Trust in Him.
Enjoy the heartache.
Enjoy the waiting.
Enjoy the process.
Consider it pure joy as the author and finisher of our faith disciplines our lives.

Lost In Translation

While starting a round of leg extensions a friend approached me to see how training was going. I was trying to focus on the set, but he kept asking me questions, to which I answered with nods, forced smiles or shoulder shrugs. So much for gym etiquette... he wasn't getting the hint so I took a quick break to chit chat. Our conversation was pretty standard, but he said something as he was leaving that caught my attention. He said "Ok. Well, have a goodnight. échale ganas."

échale ganas. I kept repeating it to myself, understanding fully what he was saying to me in Spanish, but when the thought was considered in English all meaning vanished from me. It's a difficult phrase to accurately translate because it can easily mean so many things, and it occurs to me that yet again the English language is sometimes flavorless. In this particular instance he was telling me to give it my all, hit it hard, do my best, etc.... Even as I translate for you, I feel like it's still not enough to fully describe what he was saying to me. It's almost as if it means, give it my all with an extra measure of something much deeper, more positive and hopeful. Work harder than hard!

To all my ladies who are climbing those mountains and waiting it out - échale ganas.

Love y'all.

shady

an undisclosed temptress emailed this to me tonight! She knows....oh, she knows very well....All I gotta say is that this beanie wearing Italian Rugger, Sergio Parisse, is ahem... =) very attractive. I like ruggers. I like the way certain men look in beanies and this man is rockin' it! If only y'all could see him smile, it's presh! Goodness gracious!

Photos

These photos make me smile!

Uyen, showing off her fancy pantene hair. I had so much relaxed fun at her wedding reception. I heart this woman, big time!
Roddey. Messed with the bull and got the horns! Just kidding! I mess with him all the time for no apparent reason. I thought he'd look cute sportin' a pair of kid swim goggles. The teal goggles + his purple monkey = one hot mess! We're so much alike it's crazy! (Minus the dry humping...I don't dry hump! lol)
Mita!!! I love you most of the time!
Nolan. He's cool. He's messed up in the head. He was the cutest puppy, next to his daddy Texas, of course. Oh! and Roddey! (Roddey was completely delicious when he was a puppy!)If I had a bigger place I'd consider calling him my own, but I highly doubt my sister-in-law and nephew would part with him. He's fun to walk with and semi "special" to jog with. He gets easily spooked and hasn't quite figured out that running directly into and clipping the person that's jogging beside him is highly dangerous. It's especially dangerous if said jogger is a BBW! He just don't know!! If all this woman went down because of him....you better believe he's gonna feel it cause I'm gonna make for dang sure I land on him! =)

What the heck?!?!

It's been days since this fast has started and it seems that the trials are slowly starting to roll in. These trails are small, very small, and not all that tempting, but nonetheless men that I may have previously dated or talked to are suddenly starting to emerge from all over the place, the gym, random text messages, emails, phone calls and even facebook!!

Ah! I'm glad these tests are starting off slow, it'll be good for my spiritual muscles to build some endurance. Before the fast started I sat down and heavily considered my greatest temptations and made a plan of action. I know they're coming, not sure when or how, but I'll have to face them sometime.

This journey isn't even about men, but about the things I hold on to so tightly. Affirmations, compliments and attention make me feel good, but with all feelings are often fleeting. I long for something much deeper.

I'll keep you posted.

2010

Last year to the day I was recovering from oral surgery. It's pretty funny thinking about it now..the chipmunk cheeks, the drug induced calling and texting, and inability to feel my face left me hungry and completely unable to feed myself. Who knew scooping a spoon full of milkshake from the container to my mouth would be such a challenge. I didn't know anything was amiss until I felt the sticky ice cream dripping down my chest. I wasn't amused.

The months that followed into 2010 were different. Very different. I'm more than happy to put this year behind me.

I look forward to 2011. God has called me unto himself for a season without distraction, and that means no men. For those of you who know me, you already understand that this is gonna be an interesting ride as I begin a 6 month fast from men and sugar, a few of my idols. In regards to men, that means no dating, talking, texting, chatting, emailing, etc. In regards to sugar well....this pains me as much as it does saying goodbye to men. I love me some sugar and that means no ice cream or other sugary treats.

Another round of Recovery at the Village will begin in the next week for me as well. We'll see what other festering wounds God will uncover. Beware my chicas, if this next round is anything like the first, you already know! haha!

Happy New Year!!

Chain Gang

I've been dancing around to this song for the last two days. I like it!!

Found this version tonight and it makes my heart squeal with delight. I've always been partial to this sound. As a little girl I used to have a fascination with music from this era, perhaps my Dad had something to do with that.

Roddey.

I was inspired to post a picture for the previous post.

Quite possibly the cutest picture of Roddey-Monster
Don't let the face fool you......he's not as sweet as he pretends to look, but he does have his moments.

Us having a moment after a quick play in the snow last year.

*Renatta & Uyen I can totally hear "awwwww-ing" right now. I love you!

Another Lesson

Earlier today I emailed my accountability partner, Dane. I was having a 'moment' and needed to write it out for her. Later that night, the moment had long passed and nearly forgotten, she returned my email. Her sweet reassurance and firm grip on truth drove my heart into prayer.

While praying I could hear my dog outside my door. He was sniffing and scratching to get in, but because the door was firmly shut he wasn't able to bulldoze his way in, as is his habit. A few moments later my sister opened the door and he came flying into the bedroom. I could hear the clinks of tags and the huffing of his breathing as he searched for me. He darted into the bathroom, then onto the bed and finally he found me moments later on the floor (not my usual place, so it took him a minute). He all too eagerly jumped into my lap, tail wagging a mile a minute, and eyes searching my face with concern as I was crying. Listening to the way he earnestly searched for and found me, was humbling. He loves me dearly and rests well knowing that I'm within site or touch.

I desire to liken this scenario to my relationship with God, but sadly that's not the case. Why am I not so often eager to find him, even knowing that He's always available to me? Typically, I surrender and crawl into His presence when I'm hurting or scared, but not so much so when I'm elated or angry.

Shortly after my moment with Roddey (my dog). I read this blog post by Paul Tripp, it was perfectly timed. Read it here.

Washing Dishes

Generally, I'm not a huge fan of washing dishes, however, I love washing them with my nephew. It's the coolest thing to watch him learn, he's such a sponge.

I'm looking forward to relearning so many things with this little dude.

Are you a Christian?

That's a pretty standard question around these parts.

Last night around 8pm I was asked "How risky would you say your life is in regards to your spiritual walk?" After a bit of thought I came to the conclusion that it's not. I haven't had to take a risk in such a long time and I've had this gnawing feeling lately that my time is up once again.

The Risk: I recently made the acquaintance of someone who, in a very short time, I've grown to deeply respect and admire. I have a desire to see this new friendship grow, but I'm afraid that our spiritual differences may stand in the way. I have to take the risk and share what Jesus has done in my life, but because I've typically been such a spiritual mess I feel ill equipped to represent us as a body.

Today I was openly asked by this person, via email, if I was a Christian. God has evidently drawn the line. I can either stay where I am and risk nothing or take the risk.

Pray for me. Pray that I would surrender my will, open my closed fists and walk in obedience.

Delicious!!!

I wasn't going to post this until tomorrow, but I couldn't stand it any longer! My sister (Margarita Infante) had a photo session with our brother, sister-in-law, & nephew, Deavin a few weeks ago at Teddy Bear Park. This little dude wore them all out! I don't think she's ever had such a trying photoshoot, but the end results were well worth it!!

I'm unable to decide which photo is my favorite as I love them all. He looks like such a big boy in the far right photo. I love it, but it causes me to realize that time is moving so much faster than we even realize. Last November he was only 5 months old. ahhh!!!

Christmas Card 2010

I just finished this tonight! I hope y'all like it! It took me forever to find photos of us in 2010. Apparently we were a bit camera shy this year. Go figure! Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!

Looking forward to 2011 BIG TIME!

If you'd like a card email me your address. *muah*

Just one bite

While putting together a Christmas card for 2010 I came across this photo. It cracks me up. He's so intense and desperately wants some of my Cheerios. I almost felt sorry for him. *almost*

On a side note. He must've just gotten back from the groomers because he's still waering his little neckerchief dealie, which he normally rips off as soon as he's able. Also, note that his girlie 'do was totally my bad. Apparently I don't explain myself well to the groomers because this was the end product of my specification. Sorry, Roddey.

Another Gym Moment

Last night I headed to the gym a bit later than usual and I wasn't all that surprised to see new faces. However! I was semi surprised to see a hipster-esque guy wearing an argyle sweater, scarf, skinny jeans, leg warmers and red converse workin' his hipster biceps.

I unloaded, grabbed some gear and headed to an empty spot. While selecting some free weights that were positioned directly in front of him I caught a glimpse of the both us in the mirror. He was pretty to say the least with this perfectly spiky hair and I was looking rather rough in my yoga pants, shirt, frizzy curly-hair pony and minimal make up.

Suddenly the train of thought in my head came to a complete halt when I remembered this line from Sixteen Candles.

hahaha! Life is so great! Love y'all!

Urban Dictionary - Ma'am

You see?!?!!?! I'm not the only one who feels aged by being ma'amed!

(I left out some of the other, ahem, more colorful urban dic defs)

ma'am28 up, 29 down
to call a woman "ma'am," especially when she is (or thinks she is) way too young to be considered one.
(some twenty-something): oh my god, that waiter just ma'amed me.
(a friend): ha ha, you got ma'amed by a guy twice your age!

Ma'am. He called me Ma'am.

A few weeks ago while shopping at Wal-mart this rather cute post college aged cashier guy and I had a 'moment'. It wasn't super flirty just semi fun flirty. I remember heading out to my car and thinking 'awww he was cute, and God.... you gave him really pretty eyes.'

end of scene.

Earlier this week I headed to Wal-Mart post my workout to grab some sick supplies for my sister, who started feeling ill earlier that day. I did my rounds, checked out and headed for my car. Just as I was fixin' to unload my cart, I heard this loud crashing sound and it startled me (because it was too close for comfort) so I jumped, semi squealed and clutched for some invisible being in the air. hahaha! I wouldn't have been a big deal, but when I searched for the source of the noise I came to find this younger guy at the opposite end of the cart station, you know the place where we're supposed to leave our carts!!, smiling and semi laughing at my reaction. I playfully screamed "YOU SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!!" and he apologized, but continued to laugh. Another guy Wal-Mart cart guy appeared and asked if i was OK. I was smiling when I said "yeah, I'm good, but I like how your friend over there asked the same question but couldn't keep from LAUGHING AT ME!!" They both laughed and apologized again, it was all in good fun.

When I finished unloading I asked them what they wanted me to do with my cart. I didn't wanna be a dork and walk all the way to the front of their cart stacking pile and mess up their system and I also didn't want to seem rude and just leave it in the recently cleared out cart station. Thankfully they were nice and let me just leave it in the empty station thingy. As I was about to get in my car the second Wal-mart guy says "I hope you have a good night, ma'am" it was then that I noticed it was cute wal-mart cashier guy from a couple weeks ago and he just called me ma'am..................

In one hand I was super proud of our Texan boys for having proper Texan manners, but in the other I was also heart-dented when I realized I was now a "ma'am". Not cool. totally not cool. :)

Christmas 2010!!

It's starting to look like Christmas. This weekend my sister-in-law was off with a fury putting up the Christmas Tree and decorations. While she was busy with that my job was to keep little dude busy and away from all the glass ornaments. He was so tiny last year to even care about the tree, but I imagine that this year will be quite different! Merry Christmas, Y'all!

8 Moves - 20 minutes

Let's just say that 2010 wasn't my best year. I've been so off and on, here and there...it's not cute and it's so coming to an end. With that being said, I've consistently been back in the gym for about a month or two. Things have gone well and I'm starting to feel stronger.

Without having Chadwick by my side to rack my weights and basically tell me what to do, (it's so easy to go into robot mode with a trainer) I've had to dig deeper and research on my own. Learn about muscle groups and exercises and combinations that will keep me moving and burning. It's a challenge, but it's fascinating too.

One would think that after so much time in the gym that it would be easy to get back into the swing of things, but let me tell you something, if you don't use it, YOU LOSE IT!! The muscle I put on back in 2008 & 2009 basically went to crap and turned into into nasty fat. It came back with a vengeance and was pocketed differently than before. I never really had saddle bags and NOW I DO!! it's not cute, but it's also reversible. Praise God!!

Anyhow, I digress.... While perusing Women's Health Magazine online I found this cool workout called Power Pairs. I decided to start my routine with this 20 minute circuit and it was good, very, very good.

Here it is

Check out the video too & let me know what you think.

More Beauty

The word for today
29 Nov 2010
Character - The Beauty That Lasts
...clothe yourselves...with the beauty that comes from within... 1 Peter 3:4
When it comes to beauty, get your perspective right: 'Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes...clothe yourselves...with the beauty that comes from within...' (1 Peter 3:3-4 NLT). The public relations department of a beauty products company asked its customers to send pictures along with brief letters, describing the most beautiful women they knew. Thousands of letters came in. One caught the attention of the employees and was passed on to the president. It was written by a boy from a broken home who lived in a run-down neighbourhood. With lots of spelling errors, an excerpt from his letter read: 'A beautiful woman lives down the street from me. I visit her every day. She makes me feel like the most important kid in the world. We play checkers and she listens to my problems. She understands me. When I leave she always yells out the door that she's proud of me.' The boy ended his letter saying, 'This picture shows you that she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and one day I hope to have a wife as pretty as her.' Intrigued, the president asked to see the woman's picture. His secretary handed him a photograph of a smiling, toothless woman, well advanced in years, sitting in a wheelchair. Sparse grey hair was pulled back in a bun. The wrinkles that formed deep furrows on her face were somehow diminished by the twinkle in her eyes. 'We can't use this woman,' said the president, smiling. 'She would show the world that our products aren't necessary to be beautiful.'

Beauty. Just today I was sitting at the edge of my bed thinking of just that.... In the silence of my heart I ache to be beautiful by my own standards, not by the standards of God. There's a long list of things I desire from a flat tummy, to well muscled legs and arms, solid muscular booty, a narrow waist, well rounded hips, a smaller face without a double chin and perfect hairless skin! =) I don't desire to be skinny, but curvy, thick and delicious. I desire to be not different, but normal in a Marcy kinda way. I was semi saddened when I realized that my ways are not his ways. My thoughts are not his thoughts. I sat for a second or two more then instantly moved the thoughts from my mind and started moving.

I went about my day. Busy. Keeping myself moving and not allowing a moment to sit in silence to see what is really there. (Greed, bitterness, jealousy, confusion, laziness and apathy... they all reside within me.) The moment to ponder arrived when I sat before my computer to check email. Yet again God, in His infinite goodness, used the UCB word for the day to shed some light on my heart and draw me to him.
